Losing the ability to work due to an illness or injury can be very hard, especially for those who rely on their daily income to support their families. To help with this, the Social Security System (SSS) in the Philippines offers a monthly disability pension to qualified members. In 2025, the maximum monthly disability benefit can go up to ₱4,800. This support is meant to help cover daily needs, medical bills, and other basic costs.
The disability benefit is given to members who are found to have either a partial or total permanent disability. The amount received depends on the number of contributions a member has made and their average salary before becoming disabled. Those with fewer contributions can still get help, but instead of a monthly pension, they may receive a one-time lump sum payment.
This guide explains who can receive the ₱4,800 pension, how much they can get, the steps to apply, and the documents needed. It also shares details on digital payments, processing time, and extra benefits like the 13th-month pension. Read below to understand how you or a loved one can benefit from this financial support.
What Is the SSS Disability Benefit?
The SSS Disability Benefit is a financial assistance program for members who can’t work anymore because of health problems or physical disabilities. It comes in two forms:
- Monthly Pension – Given regularly if the member has enough contributions.
- Lump Sum – A one-time payment if the member has fewer contributions.
This benefit is a big help in covering medical bills, therapy, daily living expenses, and providing financial peace for affected individuals and their families.

What If You Don’t Qualify for Monthly Pension?
If your SSS contributions are less than 36 months, you may still receive a lump sum benefit.
- 20% disability
- ₱1,000 monthly pension
- 24 contributions
Lump Sum = ₱1,000 × 24 × 20% = ₱4,800

- ₱500 Monthly Supplement – For extra daily help.
- 13th Month Pension – Paid every December.
